A hierarchy of numerical models
General circulation model (GCM)
Our group use GCMs to study clouds, rainfall, and climate change. See Yang et al. (2022)
Cloud resolving model (CRM)
Our group use CRMs to study clouds, convective aggregation, tropical cyclones, convectively coupled wave dynamics, and tropical climate stability. See Seidel and Yang (2020, 2022), Ramírez-Reyes and Yang (2021), and Yao, Yang, and Tan (2022).
Shallow water model with parameterized convection
Our group use shallow water models to study convective aggregation, tropical cyclones, and the Madden-Julian Oscillation. See Yang and Ingersoll (2013, 2014) and Yang (2021).
